This might come as a surprise to many, but FOX sports commentator Colin Cowherd is back at it again with his love of the Chicago Bears and their head coach, Ben Johnson.
Chicago is coming off a dominating performance in Week 15 as they blew out the Cleveland Browns 31-3. That put the Bears at a 10-4 record and back in the driver's seat in the NFC North after the Green Bay Packers lost to the Denver Broncos.
On his latest episode, Cowherd talked about the Bears after their win and couldn't help but gush over Johnson and the job he has done. Cowherd even went as far as to say how good Johnson is compared to other first-year head coaches in the past.
"Ben Johnson is the best first-time head coaching hire since Sean McVay... It's very difficult to develop a young quarterback and simultaneously win games."
Johnson has truly changed a lot in Chicago
It's been a roller coaster year for the Bears after starting the season 0-2; they have gone 10-2 since and have been one of the hottest teams in the NFL. A big reason for that is the work Johnson has done in building this team up.
Before going into the offense, the defense has been an underrated part of what Johnson has done so well. He brought in Dennis Allen to run the unit, and they have led the NFL in turnovers with 30 and weathered the storm of so many injuries on that side of the ball.
For the offense, Williams has been a work in progress with the accuracy. Still, he is protecting the football better than any young quarterback in NFL history and has taken significantly fewer sacks. Rebuilding that offensive line has been a big part of Johnson's plan as the running game has become top five in the NFL.
The biggest thing Johnson has done is change the culture. Any other year, the win over the Browns might be more electric with the postgame speech given by Johnson. What the footage showed was a more reserved celebration, with the team set on the Packers in Week 16, as winning has become the norm in Chicago.

This team has big expectations for itself, thanks to Johnson's mindset change. With the NFC North title on the line, things are clearly different in Chicago, and Johnson is the reason for it.
