The Chicago Bears can add another name to their growing list of players who have earned the NFC Player of the Week honor.

On the REKAP hosted by David Kaplan, Bears safety Kevin Byard III joined the show. The Bears’ safety talked about D’Marco Jackson’s interception in the 31-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns and also shared some news.

“Yeah, that was a heck of a play that D'Marco made because I was actually breaking on the ball as well,” Byard said. “So, honestly, if he didn't tip the ball up and catch it himself, I probably would have caught it. So, nah man, D'Marco made a hell of a play. I think he actually was the NFC Player of the Week today, so man, he stepped up in a big-time way, obviously with the injuries we had at linebacker.”

The NFL and the Chicago Bears confirmed the news on Wednesday.

D'Marco Jackson wins his first ever NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Jackson earned the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week honor for his performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15. Jackson, 27, finished with seven total tackles, one sack, and an interception in the third quarter on Shedeur Sanders.

One play after the takeaway, Caleb Williams connected with DJ Moore for a 22-yard touchdown to help the Bears improve to 10-4 on the season.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson gave Jackson a game ball and said after the game that Jackson's interception “was huge” and “ignited” the team in the third quarter.

Jackson is the fourth Bears player to win an NFC Player of the Week honor.

  • Week 3: Caleb Williams vs. the Dallas Cowboys
  • Week 4: Josh Blackwell vs. the Las Vegas Raiders
