The Chicago Bears fanbase has nothing to really complain about, as the team exceeded expectations. Projected to finish in last place, the Bears are in a great position to win the NFC North and potentially clinch the No. 1 seed in the conference.

It never hurts to look towards the future. The Bears seem to be in a position to truly contend, especially with Caleb Williams still on his rookie contract. That opens the door for them to make a blockbuster move. It appears a move might be available.

FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer dropped a bombshell report. The Las Vegas Raiders informed star pass rusher Maxx Crosby that they planned on sitting him for the final two games of the season, one of those games being against the New York Giants, with the loser clinching the No. 1 pick. Crosby reportedly "vehemently disagreed" with the Raiders' decision and left the building. Glazer insinuates that this could make Crosby's future in Las Vegas murky.

If Crosby hits the market in the offseason, the Bears would have an immediate upgrade and replacement for Dayo Odeyingbo.

Maxx Crosby suddenly becomes much-more realistic offseason target for Bears

When a player like Crosby becomes available, teams should be all-in to try and acquire them, cap space be damned. For the Bears, they obviously plan to contend not just for the playoffs but also for the Super Bowl in the immediate future.

Crosby is currently under contract through the 2029 season after signing a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension. He has proven to be one of the top defensive ends in the game and would provide an immediate boost to any team's defense.

This season, Crosby recorded 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, 10 sacks, six passes defended, two forced fumbles, and one interception. He truly is a game-changer, and he has been recognized as such by being named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career.

For the Bears, they tried to bolster their pass rush this past offseason by signing Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million contract. The team had high expectations for Odeyingbo, especially to put up numbers while forming a pass rush duo with Montez Sweat.

But in just eight games played before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury, Odeyingbo recorded 21 tackles, four quarterback hits, and one sack. Not exactly what the Bears expected, production-wise, from a player they are paying $16 million a year.

The Bears are focused on this current season, which could very well end with them hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. But if Crosby's relationship with the Raiders is truly beyond repair, the Bears must try to find a way to bring him to Chicago.
