Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore was among the many Bears players last season who seemed to lose faith in former head coach Matt Eberflus.
While Eberflus' shortcomings as a head coach should be no excuse for the struggles Moore seemingly had at times during the 2024 season, the fact is the veteran wide receiver appeared to be checked out at various points of the season.
With the hiring of Ben Johnson as the Bears head coach this offseason, there seems to be renewed energy throughout the walls of Halas Hall. Moore is included in that mix as he admitted that he was left scared in a good way following Johnson's opening remarks.
Moore is among the Bears players who should benefit the most from Johnson's arrival. Moore isn't a traditional primary wide receiver in the way that Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings is. If there is a comparison to what Moore's ceiling could be, it likely is how Johnson deployed Amon-Ra St Brown with the Detroit Lions.
If Moore is in that role that sees him line up in several different spots within Johnson's offense, and Rome Oduzne serves as the deep threat, the Bears could stand to use a possession receiver. While Keenan Allen was with the Bears last season, it seems likely that a reunion between the two sides isn't in the mix for the 2025 season.
Moore has an idea for who can replace Allen in the Bears' offense.
Cooper Kupp trade is a luxury the Chicago Bears can't afford
Credit to Moore for bringing out his inner-fan. Whenever there is a star player who hits the NFL Trade Market, Bears fans are quick to make the connection to their beloved. However, much like a Bears trade for Myles Garrett doesn't make sense, a Kupp trade falls into the same category.
The Los Angeles Rams are looking to trade Kupp and the compensation will likely be similar to the fourth-round pick the Bears gave the Los Angeles Chargers last offseason for Allen. In an offseason where the Bears' needs along the offensive line have been fully addressed, then sure, a case can be made that the Bears should add Kupp. However, the Bears are not at that point yet, and until they are, their only priority should be the offensive line.
