This season, the Chicago Bears' offense has seen Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams spread the ball around quite a bit. It's been such a topic, even, that although the Bears are a top-10 offense, even fantasy football managers have had a very difficult time choosing whether or not to start any Bears pass catchers.
Wide receiver DJ Moore has sometimes felt invisible or uninvolved, this year, and at other times, he's made pivotal plays. In Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Moore showed up multiple times and in dramatic fashion.
In fact, Moore ended up doing a couple of things he hadn't done all season long. First off, he doubled his receiving touchdown total on the year in just two and a half quarters. Midway through the third, in this one, Moore caught his second touchdown of the game.
This marks Moore's first multi-touchdown game of the year.
DJ Moore made his presence known in more ways than one against the Steelers
But, just before that score, he did something he had not yet done as a member of the Bears.
After a quick, 5-yard gain, Moore flipped the football to Steelers defensive back James Pierre. But, he did it in a manner that resulted in the wide receiver getting called for a taunting penalty. Now, it was a relatively soft call on Moore. But, it was a taunting penalty nonetheless.
He had not been called for such a penalty since his time with the Carolina Panthers, where he removed his helmet late in a game after a huge score.
On what ended being an eventful day for Moore, he enjoyed one of his best games of the season. In total, Moore ended the afternoon with five receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns. It wasn't a monstrous yardage performance, but the two scores were big.
Going forward, the Bears are lucky to have the receiving core they do that features Moore, Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. In a season that's been filled with injuries, the Bears' wideouts have been fairly healthy. Hopefully, the group continues to see that good luck last.
