The Chicago Bears are coming off a heartbreaker in Week 8. I'll spare the details, as most fans already know darn-well what happened against the Washington Commanders Sunday afternoon.

Now, the Bears prepare for a matchup with the Arizona Cardinals but also for the NFL trade deadline the following Tuesday, November 5. Historically, Ryan Poles has made moves. So, what will he do this year? Buy? Sell?

Right now, the Bears' biggest area of concern is on the offensive line with Braxton Jones week-to-week, Teven Jenkins' status up in the air and Bill Murray recently placed on injured reserve. The line had improved prior to Week 8, but now they're not only regressing but also banged up.

The Bears also may have some trade chips of their own, such as Khalil Herbert, who was a healthy scratch this past week. With time winding down, the Bears need to make some trades in order to address both these issues on the buying and selling front.

You could say these would be last-minute, emergency type trades, but there are a few that make a lot of sense. Let's dive in.

Last-minute trades the Bears need to make before the deadline

Trade 1: The Bears bring in offensive line reinforcement

Brandon Scherff trade

The Jacksonville Jaguars have already made one significant offensive line trade when they dealt tackle Cam Robinson to the Minnesota Vikings. Could they end up moving another one? The Bears clearly need some help on the offensive line after seeing some injuries there this past week, and one option could be veteran Brandon Scherff.

Scherff is in the final year of his contract, so maybe a late-round pick swap of some sort and even including a player like Khalil Herbert could make sense. Or, maybe that's an overpay. Herbert does make sense for the Jaguars who have been waiting for Travis ETienne to get fully healthy, although Tank Bigsby has also played a role.

A combination of seeing what they can get for Herbert while also adding offensive line depth might make sense, although the Bears could do either one of these separately, too.

Trade 2: Another interior OL option, but for a long-term solution

Damien Lewis trade

This one is a bit curious, because neither starting guard for the Carolina Panthers has been mentioned in trade rumors and both of them just signed new contracts. However, the Panthers also traded for wide receiver Diontae Johnson this past offseason and then immediately flipped right around and traded him to the Baltimore Ravens.

In this type of scenario where a team has so many needs and must restock draft capital, it would be worth looking into a deal like this. Additionally, the Bears would have locked in a starting offensive lineman for the next few years.

Trade 3: Bears get what they can for Khalil Herbert

Khalil Herbert trade

Finally, we look at solely a Herbert trade. The Bears need to get what they can for Herbert. He's clearly not in their plans right now, nor for the future. So, being able to get something back for his services, before it's too late, is more than necessary. This is a move that makes sense for both teams, here, as the Dallas Cowboys have been the worst running football team in the league this year.

If Herbert were to reach certain milestones with the Cowboys, this year, the pick would turn into a fifth-round selection. Those conditions could be as simple as 600 rushing yards and a Cowboys playoff berth, for example.
