The Chicago Bears have continued to bring in outside talent to the roster for the 2026 season, but this one is going to hit very differently. Enter the Sandman.

The team shared that they have brought back linebacker Jack Sanborn to the team after being away from them for one year. Sanborn was with the Dallas Cowboys last season.

Before his stop in Dallas, Sanborn played three seasons with the Bears from 2022 through 2024. In 48 games with the Bears, he racked up 164 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, five pass deflections, 4.5 sacks, one interception, and one fumble recovery.

Bears bring Jack Sanborn home to Chicago

This is an underrated signing for the Bears as they just added some really solid depth to the linebacker room. Adding in Devin Bush's signing and D'Marco Jackson being re-signed, the Bears have a lot of talent in that room again.

T.J. Edwards and Bush are the leaders to start with, with Jackson being in line to rotate in. Sanborn could be part of that rotation as well with Ruben Hyppolite II, but more than likely, he is about to be a major player on special teams.

The team already lost Jonathan Owens, who was one of the top guys on special teams. Sanborn will join forces with Josh Blackwell to give that unit the boost they need in kickoff coverage.

Chicago is stacking up nicely with Sanborn being added to the picture, but it will take more than that move to get the defense where they need to be. They still need an edge rusher and safety for fans to be more comfortable with what they have.

It's still a long offseason, so a lot can happen. Bears fans can at least be excited for the Sandman to make his triumphant return.
