The Chicago Bears’ offense in 2025 featured many position groups that were strengths of the team.
The offensive line had All-Pros and Pro Bowlers, the wide receiver room featured young explosive talent, and the one-two punch of Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet gave head coach Ben Johnson plenty of flexibility.
And, of course, there were running backs D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. The two led the Bears to become the No. 3 rushing team in the NFL last season. With Johnson's offense heavily reliant on the run game, those two will be a huge emphasis for the team this year. One player often forgotten is Roschon Johnson.
How Roschon Johnson could finally make his biggest impact on Bears in 2026
The former fourth-round draft pick out of Texas in 2023 made the team's 53-man roster as the third running back. He beat out Salvon Ahmed for the final spot. Ahmed returned to the team's practice squad.
Roschon played in just seven games last season, rushing for 17 yards on two attempts. He primarily played on special teams, logging 102 snaps. His Year 1 production in Johnson's offense doesn't clearly show how he can help the offense this year, but the team does believe in Johnson.
Bears offensive coordinator Press Taylor mentioned in his Thursday press conference that the veteran running back “had a great finish to camp” and is “somebody that earned a lot of trust through the last couple of weeks.”
Roschon received more opportunities this summer because he was fighting for the No. 3 running back spot, and Monangai went down with a knee injury, providing Roschon with enough reps to convince the coaching staff he was worthy of being a part of the team.
Taylor even went on to say that if the Bears needed him to carry a heavier load on offense, he could do so while still executing his special teams responsibilities.
The Bears were fortunate to have a healthy running back room last season. Swift only missed one game, while Monangai played in all 17 as a rookie. Injuries are part of the game, so the team needs someone they can rely on if something happens.

Roschon proved to the coaching staff that he can handle his role on offense. Now, to earn snaps alongside Caleb Williams and the starters, he will need to demonstrate once again that he can keep the ground game on track.
