The Chicago Bears may not have many fond memories of their time under Ryan Pace as general manager. In fact, outside of two seasons with playoff appearances, the rest of the seven were pretty miserable.
After his firing from Chicago, Pace joined the Atlanta Falcons front office where he has spent the last four years....until now. NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Pace and the Falcons have parted ways.
Pace first joined the Falcons in 2022 as a senior personnel executive. The next year, he moved up to director of player personnel and then the last two years he has been Atlanta's vice president of football operations and player personnel.
Former Bears GM Ryan Pace looking for a new job
Back in 2015, the Bears hired Pace as their general manager, and his first head coach hire was former Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos coach John Fox. While the hire made sense at the time with a coach who had been to two Super Bowls, it was a nightmare-filled three seasons with Fox as the team went 14-34, and Pace fired him after the 2017 season.
Then came the hiring of Matt Nagy as head coach, who got off to a more promising start with two postseason appearances in three years. Nagy won Coach of the Year in 2018, and in the same season, Pace won Executive of the Year.
After the 2020 season, though, it all fell apart for Chicago as they went 6-11 in 2021. That resulted in Nagy and Pace being fired together.

Overall, there was more misery with Pace than happiness, but the change led to Bears general manager Ryan Poles taking over, and Chicago loving this Ryan a little more than the previous one. Pace now looks for a job, while the Bears are planning their 2026 season and how to repeat as NFC North champions.
