The Chicago Bears were in need of a running back, but did not address the position until far too late. They could lean on Roschon Johnson and seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai to complement D’Andre Swift, but neither has shown anything yet, and it may be time for the Bears to call on a to fill the room. What running back could they sign?
Nick Chubb
Chubb had a serious knee injury end his 2023 season and he looked like a completely different player in 2024. He is going to be 30 years old this season so it is not shocking that teams do not think he can rebound. Still, the Bears are desperate and at his best, this is the best add.
JK Dobbins
Last year was the healthiest Dobbins has been in the NFL since his rookie season, but he has yet to find a job for the upcoming season. His explosive plays are needed, but he may be losing speed. Beyond that, he is more of a Swift replacement than a compliment. Still, if they do not love Swift, this move fits.
Gus Edwards
Edwards was the power complement to Dobbins last year, so it makes sense that he could rotate next to the speedy Swift. Still, without Lamar Jackson, this was the worst we had seen Edwards in 2024.
Jamaal Williams
Williams will be 30 this year, and after his 17 touchdowns in 2022, he has had just two in the past two years combined. Still, he has the power and size to eat a few carries and at least push someone like Kyle Monangai.
Cam Akers
Akers has a bad injury track record, but he will only be 26 years old and had 104 carries last season. The combination of youth and experience is almost impossible to find this late in the offseason.
