Importance of Bears' Week 18 against Lions got magnified with latest decision

It’s safe to say that the Bears are back. 

Back in the playoffs, back on top of the NFC North, and back with Fox’s No. 1 crew to call the regular-season finale between the Bears and Lions at Soldier Field. For the Bears fans watching the game from home, that means Kevin Burkhardt, Tom Brady, Erin Andrews, and Tom Rinaldi will be on your television screens. 

This will be the fifth time Fox’s No. 1 crew has covered a Bears game (Week 3 vs. Dallas, Week 14 and Week 16 vs. Green Bay, Week 11 vs. Minnesota, Week 18 vs. Detroit).

The Bears finished 5-12 last season, but this first year under head coach Ben Johnson has reversed the team's trajectory compared to the previous season. 

It has been a thrilling and entertaining. From blocked field goals to game-winning kicks and comeback drives in the closing minutes of games, it makes perfect sense that Chicago has been a team worth watching, and it’s fitting the Bears will be featured on America’s Game of the Week for the final time in the 2025 regular season.

The Bears’ quarterback is just 270 yards away from 4,000 yards passing on the season, which, as everyone knows, is a mark that no Bears quarterback has ever reached. Williams has a real opportunity to end that drought on Sunday and

The Bears' quarterback can also get himself his third Tom Brady LFG Award. Williams won it in Week 3 for his 298 yards passing and four touchdowns in the 31-14 win over the Cowboys and in Week 16 against the Packers. Williams finished that game 19 of 34 for 250 yards and two passing touchdowns, including the overtime winner to DJ Moore. D’Andre Swift won the award in Week 11 for his 90 rushing yards on 21 carries in the 19-17 win against the Vikings.

With a win in Week 18, the Bears would clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC.
