The insane Caleb Williams rumor was emphatically shut down by a Bears teammate

We can put this one to bed.

The fact that this rumor was ever a thing to begin with is absolutely ludicrous. Just earlier this week, there was a report that stated some Chicago Bears veterans wanted to see rookie quarterback Caleb Williams lose his starting job.

Yes, the no. 1 overall pick who has been running for his life behind a makeshift offensive line, stuck in a scheme that wouldn't even work in high school football and has been handcuffed by a head coach afraid to actually be a head coach... we're supposed to believe that some of his teammates want Williams benched.

Most people had a hard time believing it to begin with, and as it turns out, this ridiculous report was, indeed, a rumor.

On the most recent episode of The Sick Podcast hosted by NFL personality Adam Rank, Bears wide receiver Tyler Scott made one of his regular appearances and, of course, Rank had to ask him about this rumor spreading like wildfire.

In response to whether or not some players wanted Williams benched, Scott had this to say:

"That's fake news."

"Narratives get made up... the media can definitely twist and turn things to make situations come to life... we are all behind our QB," Scott said.

This week has been home to some twists and turns in Chicago, for sure, and we're witnessing just one more layer to the madness that is going on within the walls of Halas Hall recently. Unfortunately, none of this is going to stop until the Bears make a bigger change. But, that won't happen until after the season.

Matt Eberflus has no shot to survive as the Bears' head coach after the Caleb Williams, Tyson Bagent drama

Calling this week's Williams rumor "drama" might not be using the right term. But, the entire conspiracy theory of players asking for Williams to be benched in favor of Tyson Bagent just proves how dysfunctional the organization is.

It proves that Eberflus is not respected by the players, whether they admit it or not. Waldron was not a leader of men, and neither is Eberflus. The team is starving for a coach to come in and rattle the walls a bit. These players need to be coached seriously, not as if they're middle school B-teamers.

There are likely no professional players, who are serious about their careers, that want their coach to sugarcoat the facts. Eberflus has done nothing but mix word salad with feel-good acronyms since Day 1. That isn't going to cut it in the NFL, and it surely isn't going to command respect from your players.

In this league, you need a coach that, yes, cares for his players, but cares enough to bring the best out of them even if that means hard-nosed conversations and discipline.

The lack of structure, discipline and preparedness out of this team has continued to show all season long, and the recent string of drama and rumors is further proof that Eberflus needs to go.
