The Chicago Bears were one of the first teams to kick off their voluntary offseason program this week, and with players and coaches reporting for just one day, we've already learned quite a bit about this team.
On Tuesday, a select few met with the media and that included Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
When asked about his new head coach and the philosophy being implemented, Edmunds' response couldn't have been any better.
Ben Johnson doesn't just want to win, he wants to put on a masterclass in one-sided games
"He don't just want to win; he wants to win by a lot," Edmunds said.
That sounds about right for a former offensive coordinator that laid it on heavy when he faced the Bears last season. With the Detroit Lions, Johnson's offense certainly never looked like they were going to slow down on most occasions.
To potentially see a Bears team do something similar would be foreign to the fan base. It's not something Chicago is used to seeing out of the Bears, but Johnson is looking to buck the trend and establish complete dominance.
How does this team obtain the ability to run away from their opponents? They've got to come out swinging on both sides of the ball. Edmunds, along with cornerback Jaylon Johnson, both commented about dominating games defensively, as well.
The starting linebacker wasn't the only player to chime in on Johnson's message to the team this week. Quarterback Caleb Williams said Johnson essentially laid out a bunch of "dos and don'ts" when setting the precedent for this team.

From the sound of it, the players in attendance all received the message loud and clear from Johnson and his staff. This isn't just about righting the ship and heading in the right direction. This is about winning, winning by a lot and doing it immediately.
This isn't the first offseason Bears fans have heard things they liked to hear. But, the attitude behind Johnson's message seems different. His ability to command a room is unlike previous head coaches in Chicago. When he speaks, people listen.
The idea behind calling out players who aren't putting forth the right kind of effort is something new and refreshing, and it sure sounds like that's going to be a regular part of Johnson's day-to-day.
For fans wanting to get excited and worrying about the fact that it's only April, the players sure seem like they want you to be excited. So, let's get excited.
