Jaylon Johnson offers Justin Jefferson backhanded compliment in wake of Week 12 loss
By Ryan Heckman
Another week, another Chicago Bears loss. The losing streak is now up to five games in a row for these Bears, and you can bet one of the players most displeased with this outcome is none other than the team's top defensive back, All Pro corner Jaylon Johnson.
"There ain’t nothin’ to be happy about. So, I mean, obviously my frustration is at a high. Everybody’s frustration is at a high," Johnson said after the game.
There are few players more competitive than Johnson on this roster, if any at all. And, seeing his Bears drop this Week 12 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings especially stung because of the job Johnson was able to do on wide receiver Justin Jefferson.
Jefferson finished with just two catches for 27 yards on five targets. Johnson held the star wideout to the fewest receptions and receiving yards in any game, all season long. And, of course he'd have to be asked about it in wake of the loss.
For about three years now, Johnson has been a regular on the Spiegel and Holmes Show on 670 The Score, and on Monday night following Sunday's loss, he made another appearance to discuss the tough defeat.
More Bears news:
When asked about his particular matchup with Jefferson, Johnson did acknowledge he thinks very highly of the Vikings standout weapon.
"He's the best receiver in the league," Johnson said.

While giving Jefferson his due respect, Johnson was also asked about how he feels about his performance covering the Vikings wide receiver. Without coming across arrogant or brash, Johnson knew he did his job.
"Overall for myself, it was a solid performance. He didn't really impact the game too much," Johnson admitted.
If you're able to hold the league's best receiver to just two receptions for 27 yards, there are certainly bragging rights to be had. But, Johnson didn't take that route. He acknowledged Jefferson didn't do much in this one, which was about enough to know Johnson was pleased with his performance.
As for what the game plan was going into the matchup? Johnson said it was pretty simple.
"Just go wherever Justin goes," Johnson said of the strategy going in.
Johnson and the Bears are on a short week, now, as they get set to take on the best team in the NFL, right now, their division rival, the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day.
