The Chicago Bears gave linebacker Tremaine Edmunds permission to seek a trade, as interest in his services might be higher than some expected.
Edmunds missed four games to injury last year, but still put up good numbers with 112 tackles and four interceptions during the 2025 season. ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler shared that three teams are interested in Edmunds.
"One player who has strong trade value and a decent chance to be dealt is Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The Titans, Raiders and Giants are among teams interested in high-end linebackers, and they like Edmunds, who's only 27 despite eight years in the league. He was granted permission to seek a trade earlier this week."
Tremaine Edmunds has three teams interested in him
Before joining the Bears, Edmunds had made two Pro Bowls with the Buffalo Bills in his first five years. The same cannot be said over the last three in Chicago, as while Edmunds has never had a season with fewer than 100 tackles, he still has not played like the Pro Bowler Bears fans saw when Edmunds was in Buffalo.
There's also the contract situation with Edmunds, as he is in the final year of his contract and is expected to have a cap hit of $17.4 million in 2026. If the Bears are able to trade Edmunds before June 1, they would save $15 million towards the cap.
Chicago could also look to trade away Tyson Bagent, DJ Moore, and Grevon Dexter, which would help them save some money. Edmunds would be the biggest effect on the salary cap for the Bears, so he has been a priority to move off the books.
One team to watch for is the Raiders, as they could be an interesting trade partner for one reason: Maxx Crosby. The Bears have been attached to trade rumors for Crosby despite Las Vegas continuously shutting down that narrative. Edmunds might be a good foot in the door for the Bears to try to convince the Raiders to trade Crosby away.
As for what kind of trade compensation the Bears could get for Edmunds, a Day 3 pick seems like the most likely scenario. If Chicago could get a fourth-round pick for him, that would be a massive win, as this move is more about clearing cap space than anything.

The hope is that Edmunds can get moved before free agency begins so the Bears can get off to a fast start with signings. At least there are many teams who could be in the conversation.
