Less than a minute to go in the Chicago Bears-Las Vegas Raiders game, the team from the Windy City needed a big play from anyone to avoid Daniel Carlson from kicking the game-winning field goal for the Raiders.
Here comes Bears cornerback and special teams ace Josh Blackwell to the rescue. Blackwell came flying off the edge and was able to get his hands on the field goal to get the block and seal a 25-24 win for Chicago, a win that was desperately needed going into the bye week.
It was an incredible moment, only made better by the stories before the block. Blackwell's special teams coordinator, Richard Hightower, predicted it would happen exactly how it occurred. Bears long snapper Scott Daly played a critical role in the block as he coached Blackwell on what to look out for to get the right jump to block it.
The Bears now enter the bye week with two straight wins and momentum on their side. They have one more thing they can celebrate from Week 4.
Blackwell takes home an award for his play
On Wednesday, the NFL announced that Blackwell was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 4 based on the block he made. He becomes the second player this season to win a weekly award, as Caleb Williams won for Offensive Player of the Week after last week's win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Blackwell has always been known for being more of a special teams stud for the Bears, as he also serves as a backup on defense. Hightower was very complimentary to Blackwell during the offseason and has considered him one of the top special teams players on the roster.

The Bears have plenty to be excited about as they go through their bye week, but all of this will mean nothing next week when they are back to work to prep for the Washington Commanders in Week 6 on Monday night.
