He is good at that.

There may be a lot of variety in how people answer the question about how they feel about Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson, but no one can deny that he has all the tools to be an offensive genius.

Johnson had a ton of success with his offense last season with the Bears, as they were ranked sixth in the NFL in total offense and third in rushing. New Bears wide receiver Kalif Raymond knows how smart Johnson is from their time together with the Detroit Lions when Johnson was the offensive coordinator, so he can vouch for what he said about what the coach does best.

"He finds what everybody's really, really good at, and he finds a way to allow you to excel at it," Raymond said on NFL Network's The Insiders.

Kalif Raymond knows that Ben Johnson can put the puzzle together well

While Johnson may not always be right the first time, he knows exactly how to get the most out of his players. He likes to play around and have players fit into different roles on offense, like last year, when wide receiver DJ Moore played some running back, or this offseason, with rookie wide receiver Zavion Thomas doing the same.

Johnson is precise with everything he does on offense and knows how to get the most out of his players. A perfect example is Caleb Williams: before the season, there were some limitations, but he developed into a top-10 NFL quarterback with a chance to become elite in the next season or two.

This was an offense that had similar weapons in 2024 and was ranked as one of the worst in the NFL that season. Johnson single-handedly turned those same players into contenders. That speaks volumes about the type of coach that he is.
