We are in the final days of buildup for the 2025 NFL Draft, with many insiders finalizing their mock drafts.
For the Chicago Bears, they can go in any number of directions when it comes to the No. 10 selection. Recent buzz from ESPN suggested that the Bears' front office was high on Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
Addressing the running back position is something that many expect the Bears to accomplish at some point during the draft. Taking Jeanty in the first round would check that box but it may not be a likely scenario. Jeanty could be off the board by the time the Bears are on the clock. If that's the case, addressing the offensive line would complete the overall goal of the offseason for the Bears.
Along those lines, adding to the offensive line is what Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune had the Bears doing during his latest mock draft. With the No. 10 selection in the draft, Biggs has the Bears taking Kelvin Banks Jr. out of Texas.
All of the usual suspects were taken before the Bears' selection as Jeanty, Will Campbell, Mason Graham, and Armand Membou were all off the board.
The biggest question when it comes for Banks is his future position in the NFL. While he was a tackle with the Texas Longhorns, one NFL scout believes he projects as a guard in the NFL.
Addressing the guard position was the theme of the Bears' free-agency period in March. Prior to the start of free agency, the Bears traded for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson. Jackson has already signed an extension with the Bears, while Thuney's extension remains a safe assumption for the Bears before the start of the season. With that in mind, it would seem a questionable choice, if nothing else, for the Bears to take Banks at No. 10 with the risk that he may turn out to be a guard--a need that the Bears don't have at the moment.
If the draft plays out similarly to Biggs' mock draft, the guess here is that the Bears would trade back. In an ideal world, yes, the Bears would address their long-term need for a left tackle with the No. 10 selection. However, only Campbell and Membou would be clear answers for that goal.
