There's still about a month until the Chicago Bears' 2026 NFL Draft, and they could really use a couple of moves to help them out.

They are looking to help with their current cap, which is at $1 million, so some restructuring, cuts, and trades will need to be made before then. Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton shared some trade ideas that Super Bowl contenders could make, and he had suggested the Kansas City Chiefs boost their secondary by making a trade with the Bears to include cornerback Tyrique Stevenson.

"Stevenson is entering the final year of his rookie deal. So, the Bears could consider trading the talented cover man if they don't plan to sign him to an extension before he hits free agency in 2027. After allowing nine touchdowns in his rookie campaign, Stevenson made strides in some areas of coverage, giving up five scores and a passer rating below 88 over the last two terms. However, Stevenson is still susceptible to big plays. In 2025, he allowed a staggering 15.3 yards per catch. While the Chiefs should be alarmed by that number, respected defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo could help the young 25-year-old cornerback iron out the wrinkles in his game."

Bears trade idea involving Tyrique Stevenson would actually help them

Stevenson has improved over the last two years, but last season saw him with a mixed bag of performances. He had a great two-week run, playing well against the Dallas Cowboys and the Las Vegas Raiders, but he sort of fell apart and was eventually replaced by Nahshon Wright. By the end of the season, Stevenson wasn't even stepping on the field for a single defensive snap.

Wright isn't on the team anymore as he signed with the New York Jets, so Stevenson is expected to take his starting spot back. It feels different this season for Stevenson, though, as he has a lot to prove on the field and must improve his play.

If the Bears don't see a long-term future with him, it might be better for them to trade him now and find the next starting cornerback in the NFL Draft. Also, while it isn't a ton of money, trading Stevenson would give the Bears $3.6 million in cap space, so they would save money in the process.

Kansas City wins as they get a new starting cornerback, and the Bears win by creating cap space, so this actually would be a pretty good trade for Chicago to make.
