Latest draft intel from NFL insider suggests top 5 prospect could easily fall to Bears

And I believe it!

LSU's Will Campbell has been one of the more interesting prospects to follow throughout this draft season. He's basically been one of the best offensive linemen in football over the last few years, and some of his mic'd up moments are the stuff that NFL content teams dream of.

And while he's entering this draft technically classified as a left tackle, there's been a lot of (kinda weird) conversation about his arm length, and – more specifically – how it might hamper him as a tackle at the next level. It's why draft analysts have seemingly had a hard time figuring out where he's going to go next week – he's widely considered a top 5 prospect this year, but any given mock will have him going somewhere between the Patriots at 4 and the 49ers at 11.

That's awfully convenient for the Bears, who you may remember, are picking one spot earlier at 10. They also, notably, could use the help. It's a pairing that Albert Breer hinted is very possible in his latest NFL Draft mailbag that dropped this week.

Will Campbell falling to the Bears at 10 would be a dream scenario for Ben Johnson

"I would say finding help on the interior of the defensive line would be good. Ditto for the idea of difference-making running back. But if Mason Graham and Ashton Jeanty are gone, I’m not sure there’s a guy at either of those spots worthy of going at 10. So, that leads you back to … the offensive line. Yes, the Bears dealt for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and signed center Drew Dalman. But left tackle Braxton Jones, a nice find for the Bears in the fifth round in 2022, is heading into a contract year and has a new set of coaches evaluating him. If he’s not seen as the answer, tackle would be in play. That’s why I think 10 is the floor for LSU’s Will Campbell, and could be a landing spot for Texas’s Kelvin Banks Jr."

Credit where it's due: any time you can give four (4) answers to a question that's asking for one (1), you've got to do it. Still, the idea of Campbell falling to the Bears is probably the best case scenario for Ben Johnson? Regardless of where Campbell ends up playing, Chicago could use all the o-line help they can get, and Johnson's long been on record talking about how he believes that team-building starts on the line.

So if the Bears end up drafting Campbell, remember that you heard it here first(ish). If they don't, blame Albert Breer.
