There's no secret as to who the top players are on the Chicago Bears' roster, as another top 100 players list confirms it.
FanSided's NFL Spin Zone writer, Lou Scataglia, released his rankings of the top 100 players in the NFL. Two Bears players were on the list, with offensive guard Joe Thuney and cornerback Jaylon Johnson making the ranking.
- 49. Joe Thuney, OG
- 81. Jaylon Johnson, CB
No surprise with Thuney and Johnson making the cut
Scataglia's list is right on par with what CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco had for his top 100 players list as well. Thuney was ranked 55th by Prisco, and Johnson was ranked 71st.
The Bears acquired Thuney in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs over the offseason in a move that was made to help give the offensive line a boost after surrendering 68 sacks in 2024. Thuney is one of the best linemen in the NFL as he has had three consecutive selections to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro team from 2022 through 2024.
Johnson is coming off one of the best seasons of his career after making his second straight Pro Bowl. He added 10 pass deflections, two interceptions, and allowed a passer rating of just 92.6 (the second lowest of his career).
It's clear now who the top players are on the team, but it's also clear that the Bears need more guys to step up and start being included on that list. Players like Caleb Williams and Montez Sweat should begin to see themselves in that top 100 list in the next year or two.
2025 is a defining year for the Bears to see what the future looks like. Thuney and Johnson demonstrate a nice balance of young and veteran talent on the team.

Now it's about whether new head coach Ben Johnson can get the other players to play at the same level as Thuney and Johnson.
