Fans have had a hard time figuring out just how to feel about these Chicago Bears. To begin the year, things looked rough; rougher than some fans may have anticipated.

However, after winning three in a row and getting to 4-2 on the year, Chicago was showing signs of life on both sides of the ball. Then, injuries started creeping in and inconsistencies on the offensive side of the ball reared their ugly head.

Between a lot of circumstances at play, the Bears have fallen to an even 4-4 and, quite frankly, don't appear to look like a team ready to win many games down the stretch. Some can place the blame on injuries. Others might put some of the blame on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams struggling at times (which can be attributed to many factors).

And, if you want to take the more realistic approach, blame coaching.

As Bears fans love to do, we blame coaching. But, can it be held against the fan base when there's plenty of reasoning behind blaming the coaching staff? The Bears seem to have been caught in an endless loop of incompetent coaching, and it's frustrating to say the least.

After making a strong push down the stretch last season, Matt Eberflus was able to keep his job even despite some fans believing he should be fired. Fast forward through the summer and training camp, and the vibes appeared to be good.

But, halfway through the season, it's looking like the same, old Eberflus and fans are turning once again (as if they had changed a tune to begin with). Some believe Eberflus has lost the team and players have even been asked that very same question.

It's not a good look, right now, at Halas Hall. There seems to be some unspoken division. And, at this rate, many would agree that Eberflus is likely on his way out as head coach.

Except, he might not be.

The Bears have reportedly already made a decision on Matt Eberflus' future

On a recent podcast episode, NFL Network's Adam Rank divulged some telling information on the future of the Bears head coach.

"I talked to some people within NFL circles... people who are close to Ryan Poles, and they indicated to me that regardless of what happens at all, Matt Eberflus is coming back," Rank said on the air.

If this is true, Bears fans are not going to take it well. If we get to the end of the season, and Black Monday comes and goes, with Eberflus still being employed by the Bears, things could get real ugly.

The fans have seen incompetent coaching come and go, over and over again, and they're desperate for an up-and-coming, innovative mind. Obviously, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson would be a favorite by many if he were to be an option.

But, that means Eberflus would have to be fired in the first place.

At this stage, fans may actually be okay with the team losing more games than not, the rest of the season. The organization needs change, and it goes even further above Eberflus. However, that's a completely different story entirely.
