With the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders returning to their respective practice fields on Wednesday, all eyes were on the status of Commanders' rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Daniels suffered a rib injury during the Commanders' victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. While Daniels' mother was quick to state that the quarterback was fine, Commanders' head coach Dan Quinn labeled the rookie as "week-to-week" when talking about the injury on Monday.

There was some speculation that Quinn may have been gaming the system when talking about Daniels' injury. Considering that Daniels did not have any clear signs of discomfort when roaming the sidelines on Sunday, some thought the "week-to-week" designation was done to throw a wrench in the Bears' preparation.

The update provided by Quinn on Wednesday would suggest that Daniels' chances of playing in Sunday's game against the Bears are in Jeopardy.

The Chicago Bears may not have to deal with Jayden Daniels on Sunday.

With Daniels not practicing on Wednesday, momentum now is certainly in the direction of Marcus Mariota starting for the Commanders on Sunday. Considering that the game was flexed to the late-afternoon slot as a way to build up the matchup between Daniels and Caleb Williams, there would be a letdown if the LSU product isn't able to play.

While Daniels did play against the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season, there was excitement over the potential matchup against the Bears' defense. For as great as Daniels has been this season, he hasn't played a secondary like the Bears.

As for Williams, the only thing on his mind is winning on Sunday.

Beyond his growth on the field, what has been most impressive about Williams in his rookie season is the comfort he has in being the leader of the team. Williams continues to say all the right things while doing things on the field that the team has never seen before from their quarterback.
