The Chicago Bears' Week 11 loss to the Green Bay Packers proved to be another Sunday where it was confirmed that Matt Eberflus' approval rating with the fanbase is sinking to an all-time low.
The loss to the Packers was yet another instance under Eberflus where the Bears had a victory snatched away from them in heartbreaking fashion. Whether it was Eberflus' handling of the Bears' defense during the Hail Mary loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 8 or his refusal to run another play on Sunday despite Chicago still having 30 seconds left on the clock and a timeout in hand, the Bears' head coach is drawing up new ways each week to stir up the ire of Bears fans.
In what is now becoming a weekly tradition, Eberflus was roasted by Bears fans as they called into 670 The Score's postgame show following the 20-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Shame on Matt Eberflus. Too many times over the course of the past two seasons, the Bears had a victory within their reach, and Eberflus' lack of awareness led to an imminent victory that turned into painful heartbreak. With each passing Sunday, the moment is proving to be too big for the Bears' head coach. The Bears have a head coach who fails at living up to the moment, no matter the situation. The moment is always too big for Eberflus.
Along those lines, Eberflus owes Justin Fields an apology. Sunday's loss was not an indictment of the Bears replacing Fields with Caleb Williams over the offseason but it is that decision that Eberflus used as a crutch for why the Bears couldn't close out games last season. The reason why the Bears can not close out games is because Eberflus is the biggest liability in the organization. Heartbreak will follow the Bears' organization as long as Eberflus remains the Bears' head coach.
