It feels like ages since the Chicago Bears were under former head coach Matt Eberflus.

The organization has done a complete reversal of direction, having hired a young and ascending coach like Ben Johnson who also happens to be an offensive guru. Not only that, but the Bears are actually going out and making the moves they should have been making during Eberflus' tenure.

It looks like general manager Ryan Poles is finally prioritizing the right things for once. Unfortunately for Eberflus, he didn't get that luxury.

Now the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, though, Eberflus is trying to bring a little bit of Chicago with him.

The Cowboys signed former Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn via free agency

Just over a week ago, the Bears had made the decision not to re-sign Jack Sanborn and allow him to hit the open market. The former undrafted linebacker out of Wisconsin had become a fan favorite and someone who was easy to root for.

Now, he gets an opportunity to play for Eberflus once more, although in Dallas. The Cowboys are signing Sanborn to a one-year contract.

The Bears didn't use Sanborn a whole lot last season, as he played just 22 percent of snaps. Instead, we saw a lot more two-linebacker formations out there with Kyler Gordon playing 78 percent of snaps.

It's no coincidence that the two of their snap percentages equal an even 100. You could see exactly how Sanborn and Gordon's usage coincided more often than not.

The Bears will likely continue to use a lot of Gordon this upcoming season, thus the reason for letting go of Sanborn.

Going forward, it will be the Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards show. But, Sanborn's departure does beg the question of whether Chicago will address linebacker depth during the rest of free agency or the draft.
