Matt LaFleur proves he's still reeling from Ben Johnson's mic drop on him

Ben Johnson hasn't been shy about embracing the Chicago Bears' culture.

After all, Johnson hasn't even coached his first game as the Bears' head coach, but already knows enough about the organization that he wrote a poem about Brian Piccolo.

Johnson has been endearing himself to Bears fans since the moment he became the team's head coach. During his introductory press conference with the Bears in January, Johnson wasted no time reigniting the rivalry with the Green Bay Packers, expressing the joy he has in beating Packers' head coach Matt LaFleur twice a year. Johnson has since walked back his trolling of LaFleur; however, it appears to still be on the mind of the Packers' head coach.

While joining The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, LaFleur may have taken an indirect swipe at the Bears' head coach.

"Chicago's done a nice job of adding to their roster. You get a good football coach, as he said himself, in Ben Johnson."

The Bears are living rent free in Matt LaFleur's head

Adding the "as he said himself" seemed to be LaFleur taking issue with the praise Johnson has had despite having yet to officially coach a game as the Bears' head coach. Lost in LaFleur's saltiness is the fact that it hasn't been Johnson heaping the praises on himself. The new Bears' head coach has universally been viewed as the best head coaching candidate in each of the past three coaching cycles. Johnson's ascension was due to his play-calling with the Lions, and if we're being fair, LaFleur did seem to have some honest praise for his new counterpart with the Bears.

"No, I do respect Ben. He's one of the best play-callers in the game."

If we're being honest, it's just nice that the Bears finally have a head coach who is willing to embrace the challenge that is the Packers. If Johnson truly is answer for the Bears as their head coach, the rivalry with LaFleur may feed the NFC North for the next decade.
