Despite the fact that the Chicago Bears have a newfound success they haven't had in about five years, there is one thing about this franchise that they could do a better job of.
To kick off the season last year, the Bears hosted the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field. That game did not end the way Chicago was hoping it would as the Bears fell to the Vikings 27-24.
That has become a trend of late for the Bears: inconsistency with home openers. Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis shared that the Bears are 5-5 in home openers over the last 10 years.
Bears must get off to faster starts during the regular season
For the Bears, it's all about making sure they can pick up momentum early in the season. Last year, they lost their home and road openers to NFC North opponents: the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions.
The good news is that they were able to fight through it and went 11-4 the rest of the season to win the division and make it all the way to the NFC Divisional Round. While it worked out last year, the Bears would like to avoid repeating it in 2026.
Early speculation is that the Bears will be on the road in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks, which would be a rough place to start. Who they end up playing at home first, though, will be an interesting part of the schedule for Bears fans to see.
