And the hits just keep on coming. The Chicago Bears may not have their top two quarterbacks in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Tyson Bagent is in concussion protocol. While starter Caleb Williams has not been ruled out for the Eagles game yet with the hamstring injury he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings, Bears head coach Ben Johnson already said Williams won't practice this week.

It now appears as though Case Keenum could be in line to start in Week 3 for the Bears. Keenum hasn't started or appeared in a game since 2023 for the Houston Texans.

Bears might have to roll with Case Keenum as the starter for Week 3

This is now turning into an absolute nightmare of a scenario for the Bears. Over the last month, Bagent has been banged out and hasn't been able to stay healthy through training camp or the start of the regular season.

There are definitely worse third stringers to start, as at least the Bears have a very experienced quarterback that could take over. Keenum has started 66 of the 80 games he's appeared in, going 30-36 as the starter.

The game plan will completely change with Keenum in there, though, as Bagent and Williams are more athletic quarterback. Keenum is a pure pocket passer, so that makes the offense different in how they will be approached.

Chicago's running game will be leaned on way more now with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai getting plenty of work in there. Expect a game where the Bears run at least 40 total times.

As for the passing game, Keenum does not have the strongest arm, so the Bears are going to be more focused on the short game. Don't expect many explosive plays, as it will be more about the Bears receivers like Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Kalif Raymond creating those YAC yardage.

No Bears fan wanted to see or hear this kind of news, but if it is any constolation, thankfully, this is all happening now and not later in the season. There is always scenarios where it could be worse.

The next move now is to most likely elevate Miller Moss to the active roster and the Bears might have to look at adding another quarterback as an emergency QB3. There are several options out there.

Everyone will be watching practice this week to see how things go and if anything will change with Williams and Bagent's statuses. For now, though, it's the Case Keenum show in Week 3.
