NFL analyst hints Matt Eberflus firing will reveal Caleb Williams' greatness
By Ryan Heckman
There have been reasons on top of reasons for the Chicago Bears to fire former head coach Matt Eberflus, for a very long time now, and fans can rest assured now that the deed has been done.
Eberflus is gone, and the Bears are now headed in a different direction. The ill-preparedness of Eberflus' failed "HITS" program is a thing of the past, and Chicago will now see what they've got in interim head coach Thomas Brown.
With Brown calling the shots in place of Shane Waldron for a small sample size, thus far, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has shown tremendous improvement. There is hope that, with Brown assisting in a much more hands-on basis, now, that Williams' ascension will only continue.
Whether or not Brown keeps the job on a permanent level, past this season, it's very clear that Williams needed this team to move on from Eberflus. Of course, the same could be said for many Bears players. The locker room was fed up.
But, for Williams specifically, he needed this the most. His development is of utmost importance for this franchise and should be taken as seriously as humanly possible. With Eberflus gone, one former NFL wide receiver, now analyst, seems to believe the Bears could be on to finding more than just a sliver of greatness out of their quarterback.
More Bears news:
CBS analyst Nate Burleson, who played 11 years in the league, recently revealed his thoughts on the situation in Chicago:
"In most cases, this type of chaos surrounding a rookie could shatter this rookie's confidence, but that's not what's happening," he began.
"Caleb Williams is showing up and doing the best that he can ... what we have seen are glimpses of greatness," he went on.
The Bears firing Matt Eberflus was the best thing they could have done for Caleb Williams' early development
Burleson is a pretty level-headed guy when it comes to his analysis, and he's speaking the words most Bears fans are thinking right about now. We have seen glimpses of greatness out of Williams in a short amount of time.
He's been lights-out on many occasions during the fourth quarter. He clearly has that clutch gene. Now, with an incompetent leader out of the way, we could be in for seeing a whole lot more of that greatness out of Williams.
The key, here, will be putting a leader in place who can change the entire culture of this team. It isn't just about finding a staff that can better develop Williams, but also that can give this organization a face lift from the inside-out.
If Chicago can go from chaos to order, then that's what they're going to see.
"Moving forward, if you get consistency and put that around him instead of chaos, you will get the best version of Caleb Williams," Burleson finished.
