NFL analyst predicts Bears land DPoY candidate in wild blockbuster trade

It's real if you believe enough.

You know who's old news? Myles Garrett. It's been almost 48 hours since Garrett requested a trade from the Browns, and nothing's happened since. Yawn. It's my NFL news and I need it now.

Which is why we've already moved on to other potentially-available star pass rushers. The Bears desperately need some help rushing the quarterback – especially if Montez Sweat really is a 5.5 sack per year guy now. And while some people think that help could come through their draft picks, what if I told you that draft picks are boring and should be traded immediately? What then? You'd stop reading this blog? But we haven't even gotten to the fun part yet! You can stop reading in like 150 words, I promise.

Bleacher Report knows that building through the draft is for nerds, which is why they took control of the Bears' third round pick this year and sent it to Cincinnati for Trey Hendrickson. Yes, that Trey Hendrickson. They probable 2024-2025 Defensive Player of the Year Trey Hendrickson. For one single Day 2 pick! I told you this was more fun than the alternative. Here's their rationale:

Trey Hendrickson? On the Bears? In this economy?

"It's a lot more likely that the Bengals could be willing to trade Hendrickson as they look to re-tool their defense. Hendrickson has put up 17.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons, while Montez Sweat led all Bears with 5.5 last season. Ben Johnson brought on Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator. Hendrickson initial breakout campaign happened in the 2020 season in Allen's defense with 13.5 sacks. It would be fun to see the veteran help Allen bring his defense to Chicago."

I don't think there's a single world out in the multiverse that we exist in where one single third round pick would land Hendrickson, but I like that B/R is trying to will it into existence. This is the most A-for-effort trade idea I've seen in months. This is the Trey Hendrickson of Trey Hendrickson Trade Ideas That'll Never Happen.

I sincerely hope Ryan Poles reads Bleacher Report on the Bears' PJ, because he needs to see this. Just go send one third round pick for a guy who's had 70.5 sacks in the last five years, my guy! If Bleacher Report can do it, so can you. And what better way to celebrate that (supposed) 5-year contract extension than absolutely sending it like this?
