Every Chicago Bears fan knew what they would be getting with Ben Johnson coming in as the head coach: hope.

Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox shares one reason why each NFL team should be optimistic entering the 2025 season. The Bears' was quite simple, with Johnson as the head coach.

"The good news is that Williams' situation has changed dramatically this offseason. The Bears invested in the interior of their offensive line before adding rookie pass-catchers Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III in the draft.

Most importantly, Chicago hired a new head coach in Ben Johnson who should help Williams reach his potential. Over the last three seasons, Johnson helped create one of the league's most explosive and dynamic offenses as the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator. If he can do the same in Chicago while also managing his head-coaching duties, Williams will be in a position to succeed."

Johnson has breathed new life into Chicago that has been desperately needed

The Bears' offense was a pitiful mess as they ranked last in 2024 in total offense. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams didn't take the world by storm as many thought he would as the number one overall. That's because the offensive line was surrendering 68 sacks, and there were three different play callers throughout the season.

Last year can be chalked up as a wash as Johnson joins the franchise to turn things around. While developing Williams is the biggest reason for him being in Chicago, Johnson also brings a whole new way of offense that the city has never seen. Remember, this is the same franchise that has never had a 4,000-yard passer in a season. Ever.

Johnson had the Detroit Lions' offense in the last two years ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in total yards. Last year, the Lions were the number one scoring offense and third in yards per game.

Bears general manager Ryan Poles made sure that Johnson had everything he needed on offense with a new interior offensive line of Joe Thuney, Drew Dalman, and Jonah Jackson. The additions of Colston Loveland, Luther Burden III, and Ozzy Trapilo in the NFL Draft give Chicago a future surrounding Williams.
