Noted radio host unveils potential DJ Moore trade suitor that might make sense

DJ Moore is the easy subject of trade speculation, but a noted radio host has offered a potential suitor.

A blowout loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 2 had to have particularly stun Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson, since he spent the previous three seasons in Detroit as their offensive coordinator. A few days later, he sent a message about the work skill position players were doing when the ball wasn't in their hands based on what was revealed on that game tape.

"There were some plays there yesterday that we weren't quite as pleased with what that looked like on tape," Johnson said. "So, we're going to find out this week at practice who wants to practice hard and who wants to be a little bit more involved with the game plan here going into Sunday.”

That led to speculation about who Johnson was talking about. It didn't take much to think he was pointing at one player in particular, and in light of a rookie's breakout performance in Week 3 that player may be pushed further toward the trade block.

While the training camp tease of tentacle being added to his role has been done through three games, DJ Moore is averaging just over five targets per game thus far with an underwhelming 12 receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown to go with his six rushing attempts.

Moore's lack of involvement isn't an issue of being on the field enough, since he has played 87.1 percent of the Bears' offensive snaps over the first three games.

Moore will surely say all the right things publicly if things continue this way. But it wouldn't be surprising if a lack of involvement in the Bears' offense is a source of frustration, and the contract extension he signed about 14 months ago is the antithesis of untradeable.

Noted radio host offers possible trade destination for DJ Moore

During the Sept. 25 edition of "The Herd", in what would be typical fodder for him this early in a season, Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd went through a list of teams he feels have a legit chance to win the Super Bowl.

Not that they should've, but the Bears were not in Cowherd's "Super Bowl Bubble" as September winds down.

Cowherd did laud the Seattle Seahawks in that context though, and he finished his thesis about them by making a tie to potential interest in Moore.

"I wouldn't be shocked ... DJ Moore," Cowherd said. "Trade deadline. Seattle needs a receiver and a veteran presence. Keep your eye on that."

Technically, the Seahawks already have a veteran presence at wide receiver in Cooper Kupp. But Kupp is a shell of what he once was on the field, while Moore has plenty left in the tank.

Cowherd is of course not a reporter, and his opinions tend to shift as often as the wind changes direction. But he does have contacts/sources out there, so if he's tying the Seahawks to possible interest in Moore there's a non-zero chance there's something to it.
