The Chicago Bears locked in their head coach by hiring Ben Johnson. This hire has been praised by fans and analysts alike.

Could the Bears make another home run hire in the near future?

If the Bears want to surround themselves with talented coaches, they should consider hiring Jon Gruden as an offensive consultant.

It may sound far-fetched but this is a role Gruden is familiar with. Back in 2023, the New Orleans Saints brought Gruden back to the sidelines as their offensive consultant. Gruden attended the Saints' offseason practices and gave advice to coaches and players. Most importantly, Gruden gave his opinion on the Saints offense with Derek Carr leading the charge, per ESPN. Hiring Gruden as a consultant made sense because he coached Carr for three seasons with the Raiders.

Who was the head coach of the Saints during this time? It was Dennis Allen, who was recently hired as the Bears new defensive coordinator. So there is a legitimate connection to Gruden in the Windy City.

What makes this opportunity more intriguing is the fact Gruden has explained how he would turn rookie quarterback Caleb Williams' season around during his time as an analyst for Barstool Sports.

Gruden clearly has high praise for the rookie quarterback and seems to have a game plan for helping him develop into a franchise quarterback. it wouldn't hurt to give a football guy like Gruden a chance to work with Williams, get to know his playing style, and give him advice on how to succeed in the NFL. It might also be great for Johnson in his first season as a head coach.

Gruden, 61, made a name for himself as an offensive guru and won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002.

While it's unclear whether the Bears will hire Gruden as an offensive consultant, we can still enjoy his football know-how as an analyst on Barstool Sports.
