He's still got it.

The Chicago Bears' rushing attack last season was among the best in the league, thanks to the offensive line and two guys: D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai.

Swift and Monangai make for the perfect one-two punch in the backfield after rushing for over 1,800 yards and 14 touchdowns between the two. From Swift's speed to Monangai's power, there aren't many running back duos that can match them.

While the focus has been on Monangai's soft-tissue injury in camp, not much attention has been paid to Swift. Don't worry, though, because Swift is still showing that he's got all the right stuff to be the Bears' top running back.

Bears training camp is still showing how great D'Andre Swift is on the field

The latest training camp practice is further proof of that, with the Bears focused on short-yardage and goal-line situations. ESPN Bears reporter Courtney Cronin chronicled how Swift made a big play in camp.

"With the offense and defense having 98% of their installs in, the 11th practice of camp opened with focusing on short-yardage goal line team drills to build the intensity and competition that Johnson envisioned carrying over to the rest of practice. The starting offense dominated that period with chunk runs from D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, who each scored. In the first move-the-ball period, Swift got loose and found his way down the right sideline for a 62-yard TD."

After averaging just 3.8 yards per carry in his first year with the Bears in 2024, Swift bounced back with 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns, increasing his average to 4.9 yards per carry. His nine touchdowns were a career high for a back that was finally getting his career on the right path.

Last year was the first time that Swift was finally seen as a number-one back in an offense. Even if Monangai ran for 783 yards in 2025, Swift was still the primary guy the Bears wanted to have the football.

It's clear that each year, Swift is getting better at running the football and affecting the offense. Even his presence in the passing game was felt last year, with his long touchdown catch in the second half against the Washington Commanders as proof of why he needs the ball more. Chicago would not have the kind of offense it needed without him.

With the latest wave of injuries by the Bears, having reliable starters like Swift is important to have on the depth chart. Chicago is only going to get better as a team as long as he stays on the field all year.
