When Chicago Bears fans watch quarterback Caleb Williams play, they just know that he is built differently from any other quarterback that has ever taken the field in their uniforms.

Last year was a perfect example of that, as Williams threw for a franchise record 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns, with seven interceptions, while also rushing for three scores and catching another touchdown, for the best season of his career. Even with those kinds of numbers, there's another stat that Bears fans might not know that's just as impressive as the ones shown above.

Fantasy Life's Ian Hartitz shared a chart showing that, over the last two years, Williams has avoided the most sacks in 2024 and 2025. He avoided 23 sacks in 2024 and 22 sacks in 2025.

Caleb Williams is not taking as many sacks as he could have been

Everyone knows about the NFL-leading 68 sacks he took in 2024 and how many hits he took while doing his back to avoid pressure. Last year was much better, as he took only 24 sacks, so the fact that he avoided another 22 in 2025 is really impressive.

There are questions about whether the reason for all the avoided sacks is that the offensive line is struggling or that Williams is holding onto the ball too long. Both could have played a role in 2024, but last year might have been more about Williams taking too long to decide.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson has been working with Williams on that and making sure he improves with his decision-making. At least, Williams is forcing passes for interceptions, but now it's about being quicker with the passes.

Williams is a work in progress, and Johnson has done a great job with him, but that stat about him avoiding sacks is the main reason there is a lot of hope that he could end up being one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in the next year or two.
