The cycle for Chicago Bears quarterbacks has been the same for some time now.
They draft someone, but they do not have the right pieces to allow him to flourish, and he fails in Chicago. In the case of Caleb Williams, he has not yet flourished immensely, but it is hard to say that this is due to the lack of pieces around him right now.
Chicago Bears offensive line ranks high in key metrics
Pro Football Focus has the Bears' offensive line looking pretty good, and they are above average in many key metrics.
According to PFF the Bears OL moved up to 11th best in the NFL.

They allowed 6 pressures and a sack on 41 dropbacks. The pass-block rating ranked 6th in the NFL.
Wright didn’t allow a pressure and 3.1% this year the best of his career
Thuneys given up pressure on only 2.2% of…
Drew Dalman and Jonah Jackson have had lapses at times, and the left tackle position is the primary reason the unit is not among the top 10. However, as the tweet notes, Darnell Wright and Joe Thuney have been excellent this season. They have two legitimate anchors on their front.
More than that, they have the pass catchers as well. Sure, DJ Moore has not been on the same page with Williams, but we know that Moore is a competent wide receiver. Rome Odunze is a former top ten pick, and he is playing like it. Every time Luther Burden touches the ball, something big happens.
The Bears are even seeing some of the best from D’Andre Swift. We know it is not the play caller because Swift is seeing massive holes in the run game. Ben Johnson is also getting receivers open, and his opening scripts tend to occur when the Bears offense looks its best.
The Bears' offense looks its worst when Williams is not playing within the line, with the skill players, and in the playcalling, and he has to make plays on his own.
This is not to say that Williams will not succeed in the NFL. He is doing well right now, the Bears have four wins, and Williams is still growing in his third offensive scheme in two years.

Still, no one is going to feel sorry for Williams or say that he did not get the right chances or supporting cast in the way that fans did for Mitch Trubisky or Justin Fields. Williams has a legitimate supporting cast around him, and it is still not quite coming together.
