All signs point toward Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith being among the top targets for the Chicago Bears this offseason.

While there was an initial thought the Chiefs would prevent Smith from reaching free agency, the latest reporting from the Senior Bowl last week was that the 25-year-old offensive lineman may, in fact, reach free agency in March without a new deal from Kansas City. If that is the case, there has already been reporting that the Bears are preparing their pursuit.

Smith is playing in his third-consecutive Super Bowl on Sunday as the Chiefs are set to play the Philadelphia Eagles. While Smith's focus is rightfully on the Super Bowl, he did take time on Tuesday to meet with the CHGO Bears' team for their latest podcast.

Before we move forward, I want to give CHGO some props for their Super Bowl Week coverage. It was CHGO Bears' podcast at the Super Bowl week last year that the first warning sign of Shane Waldron was sent.

But, for as great as their interview was with Seattle Seahawks' wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was last season, that is how terrible their charade was with Smith on Tuesday.

Credit to Smith for showing a level of professionalism that wasn't felt by those interviewing him. Again, Smith is in the middle of preparations for the Chiefs facing the Eagles in the Super Bowl. Regardless of the level of interest, the Bears may have in Smith; it's a tough watch to see Mark Carman and Greg Braggs fanboy over the guard instead of keeping a level of focus.

Many Bears fans are hoping that Smith ignores that awkwardness and the Bears' efforts to sign him in free agency are not impeded.

This is an extremely bad look for CHGO. While some have gone as far as to say the Bears should intervene and pull their credentials, that likely is a step too far. After all, CHGO prides themselves on being fans above all else. Perhaps, that was the motive behind their layoffs last Fall.

Nonetheless, if Smith was put off by the interview, it's hard to blame him,
