The Chicago Bears gave up too soon on Marcus Robinson

Another wide receiver that the Chicago Bears skipped out on too soon was Marcus Robinson. Part of the problem was the fact that Marcus Robinson was drafted in 1997 and Marty Booker was drafted in 1998. The team had to try and decide between the two while also drafting Bernard Berrian in the third round in 2004. No surprise, the Bears chose wrong. They should have held onto Marty Booker, but even keeping Marcus Robinson would have been a good idea. The team gave up on both too soon.

Marcus Robinson was not as efficient as Booker throughout his career. He played five seasons with the Chicago Bears. His best year came in 1999 when he saw 149 targets and caught 84 balls for 1,400 yards and nine touchdowns. Over the five seasons with the Bears, Robinson became a red zone threat. He scored 20 touchdowns while in Chicago.

Robinson played four more seasons in the NFL before his career came to an end -- one with Baltimore and three with Minnesota. During his one year with Baltimore, Marcus Robinson gained 451 yards and scored six touchdowns. Over his three-year stint with the Vikings, Robinson scored another 17 touchdowns. The Chicago Bears could have used Robinson's red zone presence.
