2024 rookie stat projections for the Chicago Bears' recent draft class
Rome Odunze
6 starts, 60 catches, 900 yards, 6 Touchdowns 10 carries, 50 yards, 1 Rushing Touchdown
Like Williams, Odunze looks primed to provide a massive impact right out of the gate for the Bears. The University of Washington product may not get as much hype as his fellow receivers selected in the top ten, but he is on their level from a talent perspective. He probably won't reach the century mark in year one, but I believe he will get close while benefitting from advantageous matchups with defenses keyed in on Chicago's other playmakers.
For those worried about Odunze's lack of starts in my projection, I say don't be. Jaxon Smith-Njigba only started three games under Shane Waldron in Seattle, and Odunze should be significantly more productive (which is a testament to just how talented he is firmly behind DJ Moore and Keenan Allen in the pecking order).
Oh, I am also calling for some rushing efficiency in the trick play game for the rookie receiver. Rome is a playmaker. The coaching staff will want to get the ball in his hands as often, and in as many ways, as possible. DJ Moore had a rushing score last year and I don't see any reason that Rome can't get one this season. I think the 15-yard end-around run he had against Cincinnati (which helped the offense get out of a substantial funk) is a sign of things to come.
