Don't overthink the first pick

Last year, the Bears decided to pass on the batch of rookie quarterbacks and acquire more draft capital for 2024 and beyond. Undoubtedly the Bears will have teams inquire about trading up once again. However, Poles should resist all urges and stick with the easy pick of Caleb Williams.

Williams is the most polished passer in this class and is considered a can't-miss prospect. The Bears need to solidify the most important position in football and not make this harder than it needs to be. Williams threw for 3,633 yards in 2023 with 30 touchdowns and five interceptions. The talented passer completed 68.6% of his passes and earned a QB rating of 170.1.

The former USC Trojan would likely be the first 4,000-yard passer in Bears' history. Even if Poles is offered a king's ransom, he cannot afford to pass on Williams. His job may depend on it.
