The Chicago Bears finished off an undefeated preseason, but we all know that the preseason is more about the players pushing to make the roster than the actual results of the game. With such good play, there was real competition amongst the back end of the roster. Which players locked down a roster in the preseason finale?

3. Reddy Steward

Reddy Steward has consistently been a riser in the preseason. He climbed from an unknown rookie UDFA from Troy to a player that many are calling to make the roster. It will be hard to keep him off of the roster after his night against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Steward started in the slot. With all three starters out the Bears shifted typical slot backup Josh Blackwell to the outside. Still, what is notable is Steward playing over Greg Stroman, who started games in the slot last season.

Steward then made the most of his promotion over Stroman with two interceptions including a pick-six. Stroman came into the game later and did not show anything to make him a roster lock. Jaylon Jones, another roster bubble cornerback missed the game due to injury.

So, all of a sudden, it is getting easier to put Steward ahead of Jones and Stroman as the sixth cornerback on the roster. The only question with Steward is why he has only played six special teams snaps. That may cause him to be inactive on game day if he makes the roster. Still, it would be hard to make a 53-man roster projection without Steward.
