Because that's the whole point.

Green Bay Packers

Drafting a backup running back in the 3rd round

This is an especially fun one because of how layered it is. USC's MarShawn Lloyd was RB7, according to PFF, and taking RB7 fourth certainly was a choice. Lloyd's plenty good as a player, but if you wanted to make a nice, clean, and simple "Ha, what a reach" argument, it's right there for you. And sometimes, keeping it simple is the best method. There will be plenty of time for more nuanced, researched debate – sometimes it's just better to join the loud chorus of people making fun of the Packers for reaching to take RB7, even if you don't totally believe it with all your heart. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

You may remember that the Packers just paid a ton of money in free agency for Josh Jacobs, who you may remember also plays running back. They also still have AJ Dillon! So, essentially, they used their third round pick – a Top 100 pick, at that – to take either a 2nd or 3rd string running back. So maybe he ends up being good (it's the Packers, so he probably will, sigh) but for now, it looks like a bit of a silly decision. One thing Bears fans know well is that you take the wins when and where you can get them.
