Prediction 1. The Bears won't draft a defensive tackle ninth overall

What will the Chicago Bears do with the ninth overall selection? That is the newest question for everybody. The talk of the Bears having the number one overall selection has died down. Most share that the Bears will trade back to acquire some additional draft capital, but I am not too certain about that. I am captain trade down, but this year feels a bit different. Poles is very direct and focused on building this roster to his vision—Poles hand-picked his head coach, quarterback, weapons, and defense.

Many share that Matt Eberflus wants his 3T now and feels that the Bears would draft another defensive tackle to take over. I am not sure that the first round is something they are looking at to replace their two young interior pass rushers. If it was a veteran, I'm sure. I'll show some comparisons between rookie seasons, only with a very good interior rusher.

  • Justin Madubukie 131 rush snaps, 9 pressures, 1 sack, 1 hit, 7 hurries
  • Gervon Dexter Sr 297 rush snaps, 29 pressures, 4 sacks,9 hits, 16 hurries
  • Zacch Pickens 148 rush snaps, 8 pressures, 1 sack, 1 hit, 8 hurries

Now, I understand the concern, but not every roster hole will be filled. I still feel the Bears should flip Zacch Pickens and Gervon Dexter's positions, but I understand the upside they see in both players. Defensive tackle shouldn't be the position the Bears look for in the first round unless they trade far back this year.
