4 Chicago Bears' keys to success for Week 3 vs. Indianapolis Colts

2) Protect the Football
After submitting a turnover-free game against the Titans in week one, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams had less success in week two, where he tossed not one but two second-half interceptions en route to a six-point loss against the Texans. While neither throw was particularly horrendous in principle nor execution, Williams flashed some rookie impatience that must be cleaned up before too long.
As coach Eberflus preaches in his "H.I.T.S." philosophy, turnovers are a key factor in every football game, the NFL included. Holding onto the football at all costs is essential for any offense, especially so for a group that is bringing together a rookie quarterback with new pass catchers in a brand-new offensive scheme.
Protecting the football on offense will not only naturally result in more scoring opportunities, but it will force the Colts' offense to have to drive the length of the field against the suffocating Bears' defense, which may not be in the cards for an Indianapolis unit that seems similarly unsure in their offensive identity. For Williams, as well as the Bears' other offensive playmakers, protecting the football is a must, and Sunday provides another opportunity for the rookie quarterback to finish a game with a clean stat sheet.
