2. Ryan Bates

The Chicago Bears wanted to get Caleb Williams as many starters on the field as they possibly could to ensure a true gameday experience. Even Keenan Allen, an aging veteran who hardly played in the preseason for the past few years was out there with Williams. The only member of the starting 11-15 players who did not see the field was Ryan Bates. That is a huge letdown, especially when you think that Ryan Poles has been after him for years.

The Bears wanted Bates to start at center, but it looks like that is not happening. The injury issues to Nate Davis have opened up the right guard spot, but Bates did not take advantage by being banged up. The Bears started Matt Pryor in his place.

If Bates is healthy for week one, he will start over Pryor. Still, this was a prime chance to have the entire unit that would play week out there with Williams and it is nothing but disappointing to know that the line has been shaken up again this offseason, partly because of Ryan Bates.
