The Chicago Bears have one game left before it is time for them to cut their roster from 90 down to 53. Which players are so close to the roster that they can make it next week, yet they are still not close enough to be considered a lock?

5. Greg Stroman Jr.

Greg Stroman has been a great story for the Chicago Bears. After devastating injuries took away his 2019,  2020, and 2021 seasons, he came back in 2022 to make the Bears' practice squad. Then, in 2023 he spent most of the year on the roster. This year he is looking to get back on the roster, but he is once again fighting for his chances.

Stroman played 150 snaps last year, and 130 were in the slot. He was great in those snaps, but he only saw the field because Kyler Gordon and Josh Blackwell were hurt. Now, both are healthy and both have been in the slot ahead of him.

Stroman has 83 snaps this preseason, and only 13 were in the slot, showing how his role has changed due to being the third man in there.

Overall Stroman has played well, but when you break down the depth chart, it is hard to find players to push him above. As noted, there are two players in the slot over him. Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, and Terell Smith are ahead of him on the outside. If he makes the roster, it would be as the sixth cornerback, and even then he is competing with Jaylon Jones.

The Bears could keep seven cornerbacks and Stroman could win the sixth job. He is firmly on the bubble, though.
