3. Velus Jones Jr.

Velus Jones is the classic case of a player firmly on the roster bubble. He has shown nothing in his first two seasons and mostly is relying on his kick return prowess to make the roster.

Still, even then, he has not shown well in the preseason. The new rules are supposed to make him more valuable and the preseason is too small of a sample to know that for sure. However, there is a question of whether the Bears are smart to keep a player on the roster solely because of this skill.

Jones has flamed out at receiver. The depth in the room is starting to thin and he still cannot separate from guys like Dante Pettis or Nsimba Webster. So, the Bears moved him to running back. This is a smart idea, but still, he is raw at the position and the Bears happen to be deep at running back.

He is not winning a spot over Travis Homer. The Bears have to bend over backward to find ways to keep him on the roster. Is draft pedigree and return possibility enough for him to win a roster spot?
