4. Jerome Carvin

Jerome Carvin has been an underrated storyline in the preseason. He leads all offensive players in snaps, with 71. More than that, he has played three positions. Carvin has 43 snaps at center, the most on the team. He also has 17 snaps at right guard, and 11 snaps at left guard. Overall, he has been up-and-down, but the versatility shows, and the Bears have been using him as their backup center, ahead of former draft pick Doug Kramer.

If you have watched the Bears over the last few years, you know that they need center depth in the worst way. Even now, there are questions about who is starting at center. The Bears have trusted him to get work there, and they obviously want him to get as much experience as possible.

Not many other UDFA rookies are flashing positon flexibility as well. The tape says he will not make the roster, and with Ryan Bates in the mix, he is technically the third center. Still, that is a player who should be locked on the practice squad.
