1. Dashaun Mallory
Dashaun Mallory is another player who may end up getting closer to the roster than some may think, almost solely because the position he plays. The Bears are mighty thin at defensive tackle, and that has opened a door for anyone to make the roster. Mallory has looked good, and if he does not sneak on with one of the last spots, he is guaranteed a practcie squad spot.
Mallory saw the field a bit, but his playing time was cut short due to weather in the first preseason game. In the second game, he played 33 snaps, had a solid run stop and looked productive as a pass rusher.
He is still not quite ahead of guys like Byron Cowart and Michael Dwumfour, but he is ascending and that should lock him onto the roster, whether the 53-man or practice squad.
