5 must-watch Chicago Bears defensive players in preseason opener
1. How will the Chicago Bears safety depth chart look?
Jonathan Owens is excused right now for watching his significant other at the Olympics. It should tell us that his job is rather secure, but it does open the door for two young safeties. With Owens out, and Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard likely limited in the preseason, we are going to see plenty of Elijah Hicks and Quindell Johnson.
Both made the roster last year, but Owens was not in the mix, either. Both played big roles on special teams, but Owens is excellent in his special teams role. Will one of these two get cut this summer? Will they push someone like Noah Sewell off of the roster due to special teams? Both of them should get plenty of work this summer to sort it out.
